Hip Hop
Hip-hop dancing is essentially street moves evolving from Hip Hop culture in the United States. Consisting of but not limited to "breakin" (breakdance) moves such as "popping" and "locking", hip hop dance incorporates Funk, Jazz, Mime, and traditional moves from all over the world. This fusion continues to form many styles such as House, Reggae and Krump. Unlike most other forms of dance, which are often at least moderately structured, hip hop dance has few (if any) limitations on positions or steps. This class is suitable for beginners, intermediate and open class level. If you want to learn how to pop, lock and incorporate jazz and other styles in a funky fusion, this is the class. Just expect to work hard, be challanged and have alot of fun. Fees Timetable

Jazz (Modern Jazz)
Jazz dance originated from the African American vernacular dances of late 1800s to the mid-1900s. In the 1910s the dance was danced in a loose-limbed style close to the ground, with eccentric steps.
Until mid 1950s, the term "jazz dance" often referred to tap dance, because tap dancing (set to jazz music) was the main performance dance of the era. During the later jazz age, popular forms of jazz dance were the Cakewalk, Black Bottom, Charleston, Jitterbug, Boogie Woogie, swing dancing and the related Lindy Hop.
After the 1950s, pioneers such as Katherine Dunham took the essence of Caribbean traditional dance and made it into a performing art. With the growing domination of other forms of entertainment music, jazz dance evolved on Broadway into a new, smooth style taught today and known as Modern Jazz, while tap dance continued to evolve on its own. The performance style was popularized by Bob Fosse’s work, such as Chicago, Cabaret, Damn Yankees, and The Pajama Game. Today, jazz dance is present in many different forms. Jazz dance thrives in dance schools, where it is the most popular dance for amateur dancers. Jazz dance remains an essential part of musical theater choreography. Fees Timetable

Cook Islands
The art of dance is taken very seriously in the Cook Islands. Each island has its own special dance and these are practiced assiduously from early childhood. The highly rhythmic drumming on the paté and the wild and sensuous movements of both men and women virtually guarantee that Cook Islands teams win all the major Pacific dance festivals. The Hawaiian hula and the Tahitian tamuré are probably better known because those islands have had wider publicity for the last 100 years but the Cook Islands hura is far more sensual and fierce. Classical Ballet is a specific academic dance form and technique which is taught to specific methods. Ballet is best known for its unique features and techniques, such as pointe work, turn-out of the legs, and high extensions; its graceful, flowing, precise movements; and its ethereal qualities. Ballet, especially classical ballet, puts great emphasis on the method and execution of movement. A distinctive feature of ballet is the outward rotation of the thighs from the hip. The foundation of the dance consists of five basic positions, all performed with the turnout. Students are required to learn the names, meanings, and precise technique of each movement they learn. Emphasis is put on building strength mostly in the lower body, particularly the legs, and the core (also called the center or the abdominals) as a strong core is necessary for many movements in ballet, especially turns, and on developing flexibility and strong feet for dancing en pointe. For years it became the major type of dance for the North east of Brazil during the holiday months. The dance is completely choreographed and the movements tend to mimic the lyrics. It's a very energetic kind of dance that mixes elements of Samba no pé and aerobics and because of the lyrics, which are made for entertainment, the dance generally has some sort ludic element. African Dance
The term African dance refers mainly to the dances of subsaharan, west and central Africa. African dance has to be viewed in close connection with African Music. A central trait of African dance is that it is polycentric. This means that - unlike many other regions of the world - the body is not treated as a "stiff" unit but is segmented into several centers of movement (shoulders, chest, pelvis, arms, legs etc.) that may be moved according to different rhythmical components of the music or even add rhythmical components of their own. This may result in very complex movements "inside" the body, as opposed to the movement through space of the whole body that plays the most important role in many European choreographies.
